Applications

Businesses and governments across the United States utilize Armor-Tile® Surface Applied detectable warning surfaces to improve accessibility by physically warning visually impaired pedestrians of changes in surface conditions. Armor-Tile® ’s goal is to warn of any changes in the pathway, such as when a sidewalk is entering into an intersection, and our truncated domes and wayfinding bar tiles provide exactly the tactile warning needed.

Applications for Tactile Attention Indicator Truncated Domes:

  • Transforming curb ramps so they correctly align with the safe pedestrian crossing route across a vehicle roadway.
  • An entry into a vehicular route or area where no curbs or other elements separate the route from a pedestrian route, such as wheelchair ramps, ADA curbs ramps, blended transitions, and top of stairs/escalators.
  • The unprotected edges of a reflecting pool.
  • Any unprotected drop off edge. For example, a transit platform which features a change in elevation greater than 250mm or a slope steeper than a ratio of 1:3 (33%).

Applications for Tactile Direction Indicator Wayfinding Bars:

  • Located in large open floor areas, such as shopping malls or transportation terminals, Armor-Tile® Surface Applied detectable warning tiles expertly facilitate wayfinding by accurately indicating the primary routes of travel around any space.
  • The indicated routes should lead from the entrance of a facility to its major destinations – such as an information kiosk, registration desk, stairway, elevator, escalators, or to stores and service doors.

Armor-Tile® Surface Applied ADA detectable warning surfaces can easily be installed in a variety of applications wherever your facility needs them, including:

  • Transit Platforms
  • Multi-Modal Transit Stations
  • Parking Areas
  • ADA Curb Ramps
  • Pedestrian Crossings
  • Escalator Approaches
  • Vehicular Passageways
  • Top of Stair Landings and Wheelchair Ramps
